Granted I didn’t attend but this years’ CES but I have in the past and this one seemed a bit of doozy that’d leave a long queue at the refund counter (unless you have a penchant for tablets). Me-too products, over designed upgrades and a general ‘meh’lange of new products seems to be the order of the day (that and 3D everything – thanks Sony!). Sure it was a tough year last year but I’m sad to say the time was not spent on sensibly refining and innovating – all bets seem incredibly safe … bar Gaga (natch). Read the rest of this entry »

Danah Boyd displaying her badassness that’s what! (and thereby teaching me tons in the process). If you don’t know who Danah Boyd is you’ve probably never read anything about youth research or young people online. She’s a fascinating character that has made me think long and hard about all kinds of issues over the years. Now at Microsoft for some time she’s pretty much seen and done it all (but is still learning every day!) – she’s studied at MIT, written books, opened SXSW, sat on numerous panels and made more than a few smart cookies think deeply about important issues. It was going swimmingly until she didn’t answer any of my questions…
